This weekend the "Internationals" spent time together up at Gulbotn, the resort center owned by Kristent Fellesskap in Bergen. This picture is from one of our meals together.

My good friend Yvonne made the most scrumptious Birthday Cake for me. It was a cream cake with lots of berries - no kidding it was out of this world. Thank you Yvonne!

The greatest surprise for me today was my friend Mposie from South Africa showing up at Gulbotn. She is in Bergen on business and had the time to actually come up to my birthday party.

NOT....................................

The reason I say not is because, all of the events pictured here have happened at least one or two months ago, but I promise to be better, the first pic is of A.C. and Lars when A.C. moved into his Dorm at the University at Stord.

This is a picture of some of our friends at home group. We shared a meal together that day.

As a home group leader, I make sure that everyone is feeling comfortable. Nana was getting tired and needed a soft lap to rest on....

Last but not least, a picture of my very faithful kitchen helpers, preparing yet another amazing dinner for 120 people. It's alot of work, but it's a lot of fun as well....

I received this flower from Gregory (not how it is pronounced in Polish). You will see him in the next picture.

The food was fabulous. Oh and did I mention the Vodka? Those little glasses were being filled up all the time by somebody.

U.S.A. 2007

This was one of the reasons we took our vacation early this year. To witness the graduation of our son Lars-Johan. It was wonderful to be there and to meet all his crazy friends.

And here they are Hiroshi, Sunny, Fansong, Gerald (leader for International students) and Lars.
But the fun didn't stop there. We at an Asain Food Court in the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Arlington Hts., IL.

Interesting to taste japanese food. Especially the desert, it was gooey.
Out at my Dad's Arne got some to use some of his manly aggresion by going loose on a couple of trees that needed to come down. Here you see he had some expert help as well.

Last but not least, here is a picture of Lars with his Dad's and Mom's taken in their backyard in Elgin.

Hopefully I will get around to making photo albums, but does anyone even blog anymore?

K.F.'s Food Court 2007

This is K.F.'s Food Court 2007. From this angle you see about 1/4 of the possible seats. Even better was this in the evening, with the lights on and the candles burning. We had, as usual a wonderful selection of trendy "fast foods" such as hamburgers "with the works", Diego W"raps", ( because he does), A.C.'s Red Hots....Chicago Style, ( Norwegians just gotta have their ketchup, so this was not a big hit), and our version of something that looks like Subway or Quiznos.

A.C. and Petter Olav ready for action. We had to be early and ready for the "stampede" as we called it. If you can imagine serving about 300 - 500 people in about 1 1/2 hours, actually selling food and pop and ice cream for about 1500$ in just a little over an hour, you had better be prepared!

This is part of our lunch menu, which included, Chicken Curry Wraps, Homemade rolls with ham and cheese, Baguettes with ham and cheese, Roast Beef, or Turkey. Plus Ice Cream Sundaes, Cake, Rolls, Bowls of fruit, Yoghurt.......you name it.

Fellowship is important. Our Food Court created an opportunity for people to sit down, chat with old friends, make new friends, and who knows?.....maybe someone met the Lord. It is a privilege to be a part of God's family in Bergen, Norway. It has been quoted several times that Norway is one of the best countrys in the world to live in. That may be true, but more important than that is knowing where God wants you to be and serving Him wherever He places you!

This is our family. On Sunday, this week, we did not have a church service at 11:00. So, the International Cell group decided to go on a hike together. Here we are just getting started, and having a great time. When you start out on a hike with 12 adults and 9 kids under the age of 5.......well you better know what you're doing.

This is a little boy in our cell group who was 3 years old and we just had to make a cake for him! He loved it.
Before we had cake, we ate a big batch of Odd Arne's "Storm suppe" It was fantastic, very little left over.
For dinner we were 6 Romanains, one American 5 Englismen, 4 Scotts, 2 Ugandaens, 1 Swede, 1 Japanese (wannabe) and 8 Norwegians. Quite a nice mixture, and that's what God's family is. A nice mixture.
Thank you God for good friends and fellowship in our "home" away from "home".

Coffee and friends!

Actually coffee is one of my best friends - it is actually very useful when you are catching up with a good friend.

Yesterday, Irlin and I sat at a coffee shop and talked for two and a half hours!
I don't think we left any stones unturned. You may not believe this, but I am old enough to be her mother - actually I used to be her day care mom! But that doesn't stop me from learning and becoming a wiser person through our conversations. I'm sure that she feels the same way about me. So let this be an encouragement to you who may thing that you don't have anything to "give", maybe you feel too old or too young. God uses who He wants, when He wants and guess what He wants to use you.
So put on a pot of coffee, or go to a coffee shop and take a friend with you, and share from your depths of wisdom as you actually get what you give!

I wonder how much more time we would spend in coffee shops if Starbucks opened a shop in Bergen!
